This facilitated 2-Day “Action Learning” workshop utilizes highly innovative business games in conjunction with powerful improvement material. Its goal is to illustrate the power of improvement measures and clear LEADERSHIP strategies/ tactics for implementing fast track continuous improvement and breakthrough financial improvements. Following the workshop the way ahead is discussed and an implementation process developed
The CTS process draws for a wealth of material related to all styles of leadership traits.
The power of the process however is the practical nature of the workshop where clear leadership strengths and weaknesses are demonstrated by the delegate group
The outcomes therefore are directly used to develop leadership “gaps” that need to be addressed during the implementation phase of the process.
The delegate team, (ideally a group of 15) is directed to run a business with the goal of making as much money as possible in an allocated time. The emphasis is to generate a team passion through “serious fun.”
MEASUREMENT
All organizations need profit optimization but few understand the pivotal role of Leadership of the team towards clearly determined financial or efficiency measurements.
DAY 1
The course is practical and interactive. Following a short orientation to business principles the game begins. Delegates have job descriptions, report formats and process information/equipment.
The basics are to buy material from a choice of suppliers that supply products at differing quality and price.
There are constraints built into the business similar to normal business practice and the delegates must discover the solutions by working together and agreeing improvement actions.
The objective of the Team is to make as much money as possible. The business normally loses money quickly and the team are then facilitated through a series LEADERSHIP IMPROVEMENT PRINCIPLES to reverse the adverse trend.
The learning process is fun and the concepts innovative. Many examples will be used from our extensive experience. The stresses of time pressure and the need to succeed result in an enthralling interactive team exercise.
Aspects of leadership styles, functional, dysfunctional and latent potential behaviours are discussed.
The session generates a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and team spirit when the delegates discover how to improve and build on their success.
Day 1 will conclude with the 6 KEY IMPROVEMENT QUESTIONS and how to focus them on Sustainable Business Improvement.
DAY 2
Day 2 starts with an interactive discussion on the 6 KEY QUESTIONS.
The session then moves on to “HOW TO BE BEST” by using a SERVICE EXCELLENCE MODEL. The process is demonstrated practically and includes the powerful role played in leadership by human perception.
The delegates practice the learning by running a second interactive business game. Teams are formed and compete to generate as much money/profit as possible in the allocated time. The market and supply conditions are identical for both teams. The exercise illustrates the dynamics of Leadership Roles (a) Leader (b) Follower (c) Communication (d) Situation focus
Case study of “Business as a Money Making Machine” is tackled in small groups to further build on Leadership concepts.
Barriers to Improvement are addressed (Personal, Organisational, Resource)
Don’t Give up! – A Challenging problem solving exercise.
The session closes with a summary discussion and to address the way ahead.
